A Momentum migration is not a CSV exercise. The operating system spans Salesforce objects and fields, Slack channels and notifications, triggers, rules, actions, permissions, credentials, AI context, generated outputs, retries, and run history. A safe exit proves which logic can be exported, which must be reconstructed, which evidence remains in Salesforce or Slack, and which Momentum-owned artifacts require support.
Official Momentum documentation was reviewed August 8, 2026. Gangly did not execute a Momentum export. No accessible complete official export, retention, or deletion schema was verified. Treat that as an evidence gap, not proof of product absence, and bind each path to contract, plan, vendor response, live configuration, and buyer-run tests.
Define the Momentum exit boundary
This page owns incumbent export/reconstruction. Use the Momentum CRM automation test for sync validation, the vendor-neutral automation migration checklist for broader controls, and the CRM checklist only when Salesforce authority changes.
Freeze tenant, plan, users, Salesforce org, Slack workspace, connected systems, target, archive, snapshot, final-event cutoff, dual-run, rollback, cancellation, retention, holds and deletion dates. Name program, Momentum, Salesforce, Slack, security, privacy, workflow, target, finance, validation and rollback owners. Hard gates include no duplicate or unauthorized CRM writes/Slack posts, accepted critical logic and edges, least privilege, visible failures, tested rollback and revocation evidence.
Inventory users, workflows, Salesforce, Slack, and AI artifacts
Inventory users, teams, roles and service identities; workflows, agents, triggers, filters, rules, conditions, branches, actions, schedules, versions and owners; Slack workspaces, channels, deal/account rooms, Slack Connect, notifications, messages, tasks and commands; Salesforce accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities, opportunity-contact roles, events, tasks, custom fields, owners, associations, reports, flows and outbound messages.
Add sources such as meetings, calls, email and conversation-intelligence tools; credentials, OAuth scopes, webhooks and tokens; AI prompts/context, knowledge sources, summaries, insights, risk signals, drafts and generated documents; mappings, run logs, errors, retries, audit history, permissions, retention and deletion state. For each row record stable ID, parents/edges, authority, version, inputs/outputs, credential, owner, count, path, target, retention, test and evidence.
Use the CRM integration guide for the authority register and the automation change-control checklist to preserve approvals and rollback evidence for every reconstructed workflow.
Build the portability and reconstruction matrix
Use documented exportable, buyer verified, support/contract dependent, reconstruct, or unavailable. Store URL/ticket, plan, permission, format, schema, relationship/history coverage, test date and sample.
Momentum’s permissions overview documents access to Salesforce objects/fields and Slack behavior by product configuration. Its user-managed flow guide documents Salesforce Flows and Outbound Messages as triggers for specified automations. These sources support reconstruction of visible Salesforce configuration; they do not prove export of Momentum workflow definitions, AI context, output provenance, run logs, retry state, credentials or audit history.
Request a vendor manifest for each missing artifact. Until accepted, label Momentum-owned logic, context, history and deletion records support-dependent or unavailable. A screenshot can document behavior but is not a machine-readable or complete workflow export.
Map stable IDs, authority, permissions, and credentials
Create edge tables for workflow-to-trigger, trigger-to-Salesforce object/field, workflow-to-Slack channel, event-to-action, action-to-output, user/team-to-permission, credential-to-integration, and source artifact-to-AI output. Preserve Salesforce record IDs, Slack workspace/channel/message IDs, workflow/run IDs where available, owner IDs and source timestamps.
Define field/action authority: Salesforce owns opportunity stage and amount unless explicitly delegated; Slack is a collaboration surface, not automatically the system of record; Momentum can propose or execute only approved actions. Document conflict resolution, idempotency key, retry, compensation, and human approval.
Momentum’s Slack command guide documents links between channels and Salesforce accounts/opportunities plus CRM actions. Test exact permissions and disconnect behavior. Never copy secrets into the migration manifest; reference the secret owner and rotation record.
Freeze changes and preserve snapshot plus final delta
- Freeze workflows, prompts/context, mappings, rules, fields, channel templates, permissions, credentials and schedules.
- Inventory active/queued/failed runs, pending CRM actions, scheduled Slack messages, open requests and processing AI outputs.
- Record UTC snapshot, workflow versions, object/field maps, channel edges, permissions and counts before disabling triggers.
- Stop new trigger intake and mutating actions in a rehearsed order. Preserve late Salesforce events, Slack actions and retries as a final delta.
- Keep source access until extraction/reconstruction can be repeated and rollback expires.
Publish one authority per action during the transition. Do not leave source and target both updating a field, creating tasks, opening channels or posting notifications.
Reconcile counts, logic, edges, events, and history
Preserve raw manifests, configuration evidence, JSON/CSV where supported, Salesforce Flow metadata, Slack channel crosswalks, run/error evidence and vendor tickets unchanged. Record source, filters, requester, UTC time, schema/version, filename, rows, bytes, errors, exclusions and SHA-256. A NIST-defined digest proves file identity, not workflow equivalence.
- Object/field fidelity = correct tested definitions/values ÷ eligible tested definitions/values.
- Logic parity = golden cases producing the expected branch/action ÷ eligible golden cases.
- Edge reconciliation = correct workflow, channel, CRM, owner and credential edges ÷ eligible edges.
- Event reconciliation = correct target outcomes ÷ eligible golden source events.
- History coverage = accepted required runs/errors/versions ÷ eligible documented history.
- Duplicate-action rate = unintended extra writes/posts/actions ÷ eligible events.
Full-reconcile permissions, critical CRM fields, Slack Connect channels, active workflows and destructive actions. Report by workflow, object, channel, owner, source, action and error type. An expected Slack post with the wrong Salesforce opportunity edge fails.
Reconstruct and stage the target with golden events
Build target users/roles, credentials, object maps, channel crosswalks, workflows and monitoring while triggers/actions remain disabled. Seed account create/update, opportunity stage changes, owner change, closed-won, meeting summary, risk signal, task creation and channel archive. Include duplicate, replay, out-of-order, late and missing events; 429/5xx; expired token; removed user; merged record; deleted channel; schema change; and malicious/untrusted AI context.
Expected outcomes must specify branch, CRM writes, Slack posts, owner, association, once-only behavior and prohibited actions. Replay to prove idempotency. Require visible dead letters, bounded retries, manual resolution and reconciliation.
Run a one-authority dual period and prove rollback
Shadow target decisions or use a sandbox while Momentum remains production authority. Compare logic, fields, edges, output evidence, latency, duplicates, errors, retries and operator effort. Then canary one low-risk workflow with a kill switch.
Cutover order covers source trigger stop, final delta, target activation, reconciliation and monitoring. Rollback disables target triggers/actions, exports target-only deltas, reverses approved target writes/posts, restores only approved source workflows and prevents replay. Stop for unauthorized writes, duplicate notifications/tasks, permission leakage, critical edge loss, invisible errors, unsafe AI context or untested rollback.
Decommission, revoke, and request deletion evidence
After acceptance and hold review, revoke Momentum OAuth, Salesforce integration users/scopes, Slack app/channel access, webhooks, conversation-tool integrations, SSO, service identities, API tokens and support access. Disable or remove Momentum-created flows/outbound messages only after dependency proof. Test access fails.
Submit a contract-governed return/deletion request covering workflow definitions, AI prompts/context/outputs, run logs, errors, credentials, exports, subprocessors, backups, support artifacts, holds and exceptions. Accessible documentation did not establish universal retention or deletion timing, so obtain written scope and completion evidence. Cancellation is not deletion.
Apply the worked example and calculate TCO
This fictional arithmetic is not a Momentum result. Of 500 golden events, 480 produce correct target outcomes; 940 of 1,000 critical edges reconcile; 190 of 200 logic branches match; 720 of 800 required history events remain; and five duplicate actions occur.
| Measure | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Events | 480 ÷ 500 | 96% |
| Edges | 940 ÷ 1,000 | 94% |
| Logic | 190 ÷ 200 | 95% |
| History | 720 ÷ 800 | 90% |
| Duplicate actions | 5 ÷ 500 | 1% |
TCO = source overlap + target licenses/setup + vendor support + workflow reconstruction + engineering + Salesforce/Slack administration + monitoring/logging + AI/provider consumption + security/privacy/legal + validation + rollback + archive + deletion. Unauthorized CRM writes or external Slack posts are hard stops.

Gangly is not a general workflow export destination and does not make Momentum configuration portable. If evaluated as a replacement workflow layer, run the same authority, golden-event, permission, AI-context, failure and rollback tests.
