Switch from Clari only after separating organization-level revenue decisions from rep-level workflow. Forecast calls, rollups, pipeline inspection, deal risk, activity capture, engagement, conversation intelligence, and guided rep action can share one interface while serving different owners. Gangly is not documented as a wholesale replacement for that platform.
This guide compares documented scope, not product performance. Gangly did not test Clari, inspect a tenant, backtest a forecast, verify customer outcomes, or obtain comparable quotes.
Start with the revenue jobs
Map each decision to its authority: finance and executives own forecast acceptance; RevOps owns definitions and process; managers own inspection and coaching; reps own evidence, next actions, and corrections; the CRM owns designated records.
A switch fails when it improves a rep task but breaks a management or finance decision. Inventory forecast submissions, hierarchy rollups, pipeline inspection, deal reviews, activity capture, cadences, conversation evidence, alerts, collaboration, and CRM write-back. Record current user, decision, cadence, source, output, dependency, and consequence of loss.
Run the Clari forecast accuracy backtest before treating a forecast complaint as a reason to replace the entire workflow.
What Clari currently documents
Clari presents a broad Revenue Orchestration Platform. Its product tour addresses CROs, RevOps, frontline managers, and reps and describes workflows spanning forecast, opportunity inspection, capture, conversation intelligence, engagement, collaboration, and AI.
Clari Guide is documented as a sales action hub for pipeline management, objectives, workflows, activities, AI-guided next steps, and revenue cadences. Those are vendor scope statements. They do not prove forecast accuracy or rep adoption in a buyer’s environment.
Where Gangly is and is not a substitute
Gangly can be considered for selected rep-workflow friction, not enterprise revenue orchestration. Repository facts describe supported signals, reviewed outreach, call preparation, live assistance, post-call drafts, CRM suggestions, and tracked workflow state.
| Required job | Clari documentation | Gangly boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Forecast and rollup | Organization-wide forecasting and revenue views | No enterprise forecast or rollup claim |
| Pipeline inspection | Deals, risks, manager and executive visibility | Rep workflow, not a complete inspection layer |
| Revenue cadences | Structured process across teams | Tracks its supported workflow stages |
| Conversation and engagement | Part of a wider platform | Supported meeting and reviewed outreach assistance |
| CRM | Revenue context and workflow integrations | Reviewed supported outputs; CRM remains system of record |
A team can layer Gangly beside Clari when Clari remains the management and forecast authority while Gangly assists reps. Define which system proposes and writes each field, task, and activity. Do not let “integration” substitute for precedence.
Run a shadow decision test
Test decisions, not screens. Select a complete forecast hierarchy and a representative deal cohort. Freeze metric definitions, stage rules, owners, forecast categories, time zone, currency, product split, and source snapshot. Run the incumbent and proposed design in parallel through two operating cadences.
Verify deal inclusion, rollups, category changes, manager overrides, history, activity capture, risk evidence, next-action usefulness, stale records, ownership transfers, hierarchy changes, late CRM updates, permission boundaries, and reconciliation. Separately score rep acceptance and time. A rep productivity gain cannot compensate for a broken finance rollup.
Hard-stop on missing material deals, unexplained forecast changes, unauthorized field writes, cross-hierarchy disclosure, or an inability to reconstruct who changed a number and why.
Plan the switch boundary
Inventory the revenue corpus before removing access. Include snapshots, forecast submissions, rollups, inspection views, activity and communication evidence, generated outputs, CRM associations, hierarchy, configuration, permissions, audit history, integrations, and contract rights. Label each exportable, reconstructable, retained in CRM, contract-dependent, or unavailable.
The Clari migration checklist owns contract-rights review, snapshot and final delta, stable-ID and relationship reconciliation, staging, rollback, and decommission evidence. Do not mistake a customer-data export right for guaranteed portability of every derived or configured object.
Make the decision
Keep Clari when its forecast, inspection, rollup, and organizational revenue workflows remain required and pass the backtest. Combine the systems when Clari owns management decisions and Gangly measurably improves a bounded rep workflow without competing writes. Switch away only when a named destination proves every required organizational decision and historical dependency.
Compare complete term cost: contracts, modules, users, integrations, services, administration, data engineering, rep and manager time, overlap, reconstruction, migration, validation, retention, and exit. “Rep workflow feels simpler” is evidence for a narrow change, not automatically a platform replacement.
