We did not test either platform, interview either vendor, verify customer outcomes, or receive affiliate consideration. Vendor pages establish what a vendor documents—not what your team will achieve. Separate autonomous execution from rep workflow

“AI for sales” is too broad to be a useful buying category. First assign the accountable actor. In an autonomous model, software can move from target selection through engagement and reply handling within configured rules. The distinction is not “automation versus no automation.” Both automate parts of work. It is where judgment, permission, and accountability sit. Write that boundary before the demo, because polished output can obscure an operating model your legal, RevOps, or sales team would reject.

Compare only documented capabilities

11x’s official Alice product page says Alice identifies prospects, researches signals, personalizes messages, executes multichannel engagement, handles replies, schedules meetings, syncs CRM data, and provides deliverability infrastructure. Treat every performance statistic on that page as a vendor claim until reproduced in your segment.

Gangly’s repository describes a sequence from signal detection to rep-reviewed outreach, call preparation, live guidance, post-call notes and tasks, and CRM suggestions. The Outreach Writer never sends without approval. The Call Prep Engine depends on connected CRM, email, profile, and public context. Gangly is not an autonomous SDR and does not replace the CRM.

Choose 11x for the pilot when the defined problem is executing a bounded outbound motion with less manual participation, volume and source rules are stable, exception owners exist, and the organization accepts agent-initiated contact under approved policy.

Choose Gangly for the pilot when reps remain accountable for account choice and messages, the friction spans pre-call and post-call work as well as outreach, and the organization requires a human approval step before sending.

Choose neither yet when ICP, offer, suppression rules, CRM ownership, or outcome definitions change weekly. Software cannot stabilize an undefined motion. Establish those controls, clean the sample, and baseline manual results first.

Test both together only for a named handoff. For example, an autonomous system might own an approved top-of-funnel segment while Gangly supports human reps after a qualified handoff. Test human control and exceptions

Those are relevant claims, but a description of control is not a configured control. Ask the vendor to demonstrate the exact plan and connector proposed for you.

  1. Approval boundary: create an ordinary prospect, executive/VIP, competitor, customer, unsubscribed contact, and legal hold. Record which actions execute, pause, or require approval.
  2. Unsupported claim: insert ambiguous and contradictory evidence. The system should avoid asserting an unverified fact; reviewers must see the source used.
  3. Sensitive reply: send opt-out, complaint, threat, procurement, security, pricing, and out-of-office responses. Verify suppression, routing, timing, and audit evidence.
  4. Rule change: change the approved segment or message during a running campaign. Establish whether queued work stops and how already-scheduled actions are reviewed.
  5. Credential removal: revoke email or CRM access mid-workflow. Confirm that action stops safely, alerts a named owner, and does not retry indefinitely.
  6. Correction: correct a draft, classification, or record. Verify whether the correction affects only one item or future behavior and whether it can be reversed.

For Gangly, the core test is that no draft sends without the rep. For 11x, test every autonomous and human-escalation boundary promised in the proposal. In both cases, preserve timestamps, policy version, source, proposed action, executed action, approver or agent identity, exception, and resolution.

Prove data and CRM write authority

Before connection, create an authority matrix. “Integrates with Salesforce” or “CRM sync” says nothing about which system wins a conflict. Run identity collisions, stale writes, delayed webhooks, duplicate events, rate limits, permission changes, merged records, deleted records, and connection revocation. Use the CRM integration checklist to document retries and reconciliation. For sending, apply both the cold-email compliance controls and deliverability controls; a vendor feature does not transfer legal accountability or domain risk.

Run a matched 30-day proof of concept

Use one narrow segment, one offer, one approved message policy, and the same 30-day observation window. Use denominators. Track attempted, accepted, delivered, replied, positively replied, qualified, booked, attended, and accepted by sales—not merely meetings shown in a dashboard. Measure factual defect rate, suppression failure, duplicate rate, wrong-person rate, correction minutes, escalation latency, rep/admin time, and cost per accepted outcome.

Hard-stop the pilot for unauthorized contact, suppression failure, cross-account disclosure, irreconcilable CRM corruption, or a security condition outside the approved scope. A high reply count cannot compensate for a failed control gate.

Score evidence, not feature promises

Require minimum gates in addition to the weighted score. Otherwise strong convenience can mathematically hide a serious control failure. Document missing evidence as missing—never award a midpoint because a demo looked plausible.

Normalize quote and total cost

Do not use an unsourced 11x price from a review site.
